Championed by Uganda's Nyege Nyege festival and now rising to international acclaim at breakneck pace, Nairobi-born, Kampala-based Slikback makes forward-thinking club music that eludes genre limitations. Mixing influences ranging from techno, gqom and trap to soundscapes, deconstructed electronics and traditional pan-African percussions, the tracks, and his DJ sets, can most succinctly be described as fierce and unique. Also known for experimenting during his live sets and for adapting his sound on the space he performs in, Slikback continues to transform his style channelling moods and colours into visions via transcontinental dancefloors.

 

Both his debut EPs "Lasakaneku" (2018), which launched Nyege Nyege  Tapes’ offshoot label Hakuna Kulala, and the following 160-heavy six-tracker "Tomo" (2019) have solidified his talent behind the decks as well as in the studio. He also released two collaborative EPs with Svbkvlt artists such Hyph11e and 33EMYBW, and a split EP with UK-based producer Soda Plains for PAN. Slikback just self-released /​/​/ II a 30 tracks album (sept.2020)

 

He's heated many international prestigious festivals among others CTM, C2C, Unsound, Sónar, Elevate and Dekmantel, along with a string of dates across China and Japan.
